Top Insurance jobs in UK

For your information there are majorly three departments in an insurance company.

 1. Marketing and sales

2. Operations and product development

3. Claims

All three are having there own pros and cons , you will hear fancy words like underwriting , actuary but all this will vanish within next 7–8 years with the introduction of technologies like A.I , Machine learning , Advance data science . But the marketing and sales part will always be there and demand for persons with knowledge of data science will increase exponentially provided he/she have the knowledge and skills required to meet the demands of this growing industry .

A job role of management trainee in which you are trained in all these 3 departments and later pursing the specialisation in one will be the right choice .

If you are looking to get in insurance sales with no experience it may be easier than what you may think. I would first look into what type of insurance interest you most (i.e life and health, property and casualty, supplemental insurance, farm, etc.) and have conversations with people inside of those specific niches. Or if you have a company that interest you specifically reach out to a few agents and talk with them to see if it’s something you can see your self doing. In my experience most will be more than happy to talk with you, specifically if you’re calling because you respect what they are doing and think it’s something you may want to do yourself.

Insurance is very exciting field and offers career opportunities for every one . Best will depend on your qualifications and expertise

I think three jobs are very smart!

1/ Job of underwiter where you assess each case with software and your understanding . You keep getting multiple situations .

2/ Job of compliance and grievance management . You have the big responsibility of ensuring compliance .

3/ Best is job of Agency Manager where you work like an entrepreneur in developing your team . Sky is the limit in this job , once hooked you will never leave

A lot of companies/agencies will hire without an insurance license, or at least give you an offer and time frame to purse, and most will pay or reimburse you to get them. I got my license in 2011 after getting an offer with no experience and started at a life and health only company, basically in a call center two days a week and door to door and in home appointment 3–4 days a week, commission only. I did that for 5 years until I changed to a primarily property and casualty insurer while also still offering financial service and banking in predominately an in office setting.

There is also nothing stopping you from pursuing your licensing without having a job yet to strengthen your resume for when you do start applying. The cost is only $250–$500 total for the study material and or class and fees, for either the property and casualty, or life and health, here in Indiana(Check your state DOI for the cost). Getting licensed before hand would certainly show your serious about the opportunity and eliminates some of the risk on the employers.
