Reality of Evil Eye

In my point of view the evil eye is a superstition. But I think superstitions work! I will tell you how it works!

Let’s say you experience something you believe will cause bad luck. But it is evil eye, a black cat, or some spilled salt, everyone has some lame superstition.

So after you believe you got the evil eye, you will be looking around every corner to try to see something that is “bad luck.” Well, seek and ye shall find. The fact is that the bad luck events will not change with or without evil eye. But YOU will change. You will notice all the bad luck more intensely, and start blaming the evil eye.

We call this the nocebo effect.

Nocebo effect!

Nocebo is  harmless substance or that may cause harmful side effects or worsening of symptoms because the patient thinks or believes they may occur or expects them to occur only in imagination.

The evil eye only brings bad luck if you think it does. It isn’t real. The only superstition that is real is the full moon. Happens every time! Or maybe people just go out and party when the moon is bright and that is why the ER is always busy on the full moon. And people trying to stay home when the weather is bad to avoid any dangerous situation. Simple explanations sometimes are reasonable for understanding difficult timing.
